What happened?
Well, it happened. I finally stopped messing around, and moved away from Ghost for my blog.
Managing a Ghost Blog is pretty easy, don't get me wrong, it just requires a DB. I would much rather manage my posts out of a Git repo (which I am, using my internal GitLab server)
This blog will be fully built, deployed, and stored using GitLab, and CI/CD.
Tools used to migrate
- Ghost-to-MD - Used to convert Ghost blog to Markdown
- PicoCMS - Pico is the reason you are seeing this :)
- Clean-Blog Theme - Used to style Pico like a blog
How did it go?
Well you are seeing this, so I guess it was ok :D
To be serious, yes it is a lot of work to move to Pico from Ghost. That being said, it was straignt forward, and will a little trial and error, I now have a full pipeline setup to build the container for me, and everything is now organized in a Git repo. I am very happy with the ease of use on this CMS.
What's next for this blog?
My hope is that now that it is easy for me to make these posts, you will see more content around here. My plans are to introduce topics such as:
- GitLab
- CI/CD
- Kuberntes
- Docker
- Linux
- Platform Engineering
- Python Development
- and more!
Stay tuned, and I hope to post more soon!
